Three-part package:
Sisterlocks for the Stars™, Locking Session, Follow-up, and Ongoing Visits
First Visit: The Consultation
At the Sisterlocks for the Stars™ consultation, you can expect to spend approximately one hour. The talk is to discuss the Sisterlocks for the Stars™ hair-locking process. In addition, you will be asked questions regarding your lifestyle as it relates to your past and current hair care practices. Including past hair styling habits, shampooing habits, daily activities such as exercise, outdoor pleasures, etc. Your unique natural hair texture affects the appearance of Sisterlocks for the Stars™. In addition, using certain types of hair care preparations affects the feel and appearance of Sisterlocks for the Stars™.
We will discuss your hair care history, styling preferences, and lifestyle to assess if Sisterlocks for the Stars™ is the right option for you. Then, based on your volume and texture, test locks are installed in your hair to see if they will hold, check sizes, amount of scalp showing, settling in time, etc. This consultation is essential for you and me to ensure that Sisterlocks for the Stars™ is your most suitable option.
If you wish to proceed with the installation of Sisterlocks for the Stars™, you will need to leave a deposit of at least $100 to secure your Sisterlocks for the Stars™ installation date. You will receive a cluster of sample locks, in groups up to 4-8. You should have at least 3-4 inches of hair. Less than 3 inches will make the sample locks difficult to analyze. The purpose of these samples is to determine your natural hair texture, any changes in texture and density, and to choose the best locking pattern suited for your particular hair type. It is strongly recommended that your hair be clean, free from any oils or conditioners and without braids or extensions. If you are transitioning from chemically processed hair to natural hair, at least 11/2-2 inches of new growth is necessary. You do not need to cut off your relaxed hair. If you have recently relaxed hair or are between braiding appointments, you must reschedule the consultation. If you have extreme dandruff, eczema, psoriasis condition or an unhealthy scalp, which requires treatment, please reschedule until the situation has improved.
For your Sisterlocks for the Stars™ to be uniform in appearance and remain strong and healthy, we must form a partnership. This partnership means agreeing to be consistent with retightening appointments, following post-appointment instructions, and using our recommended products exclusively.
Sisterlocks for the Stars™ are designed as a more permanent styling option and should not be considered if you want a quick fix or a reprieve from chemical processing.
Second Visit: The Locking Session
You may want to bring a book, snack, lunch, etc. The session may take anywhere from 10 to 20 hours or even longer, in some cases, depending on the volume and length of hair you may have. The average Sisterlocks client will leave the session with 350 to 550 locks and a brand-new attitude! We will provide you with a Kit that includes the proper way to shampoo your locks with rubber bands and an info sheet on shampooing and maintaining them as they settle in. Schedule your follow-up visit before you leave the locking session. Good maintenance is the key to beautiful Sisterlocks over time.
Third Visit: Follow-Up
You should schedule your follow-up visit after your lock installation is complete, usually within three to five weeks from when you first get your locks put in. Regular retightening visits assure the integrity of your locks and give you an idea of how long the settling-in process will likely take. You can also begin to discuss styling tips for the look suitable for you!
Ongoing Follow-Up Visits
Scheduling regular retightening sessions is best for maintaining beautiful locks. I will monitor your locks as they mature and determine how often you will need to come in for retightening. Retightening visits are between 4-8 weeks, depending on the hair type and rate of hair growth.
Before & After Your Locking Session
This is what is required of you on your Sisterlocks for the Stars installation day
These instructions are VERY IMPORTANT!
Prior to your locking session:
- Come to your locking session with clean hair.
- Please do not blow dry or straighten your hair in anyway.
- Do not add any conditioners, oils, or moisturizers.
- Please do not plan any other activities the day of your appointment. Locking session could take anywhere from 10 to 30 hours and will finish in 1 to 2 days depending on the volume and length of your hair.
After your locking session:
- After your locks are installed, you will receive your shampoos for the first 6 to 8 months of having your locks. However, if you are confident that you can shampoo your locks on your own, you will receive instructions on how to do so.
- Follow the shampooing instructions in your Starter Kit. Most importantly, be sure to bundle: braid sections of your hair together, tuck the ends, and secure with a rubber band PRIOR to shampooing. Rinsing is very important.
- SEPARATE your locks from the root after you shampoo. This is important to keep the locks.
General Maintenance
- It is important to maintain regular maintenance. Re-tightening typically takes between 2-5 hours.
- Please come to your re-tightening appointments with clean hair. However, if you are short on time and you want us to provide the shampoo service, we are happy to do so. Let us know prior to your visit, so to allocate time in the schedule for the service.
- If you are sick, at any stage, please reschedule. If you arrive at your appointment and you are symptomatic, you will need to reschedule.
- Your next appointment should always be scheduled before you leave to ensure that you will be on schedule.
- Your retightening appointment is an excellent time to purchase products and other items.
